Heather Lynne Photography is an on location based family photographer. Capturing the joy and love between moms and dads and their babies is my goal at every session. I love to put a mix of formal posed images that you see hanging on the walls at grandma's house with a lifestyle feel to each session. My favorite part of a family session is to help guide you as a family to create moments that speak to your soul. The moments that create a whole emotion of an image. Maybe it's a child exploring a new place, a mom reading a story to her little one, a dad teaching his daughter that flowers smell pretty....moments create memories and bring out the best photos among kids.

As a mom myself I am all too aware that time moves so quickly and kids grow up in the blink of an eye. I also love the real genuine smiles that melt our heart as a parent, however kids will be kids and we don't always get those amazing smiles every time but that's okay. I strive to do my best to get those real smiles and in order to get those I have to earn your little ones trust. Having a strange lady point a giant camera in their face isn't always welcoming so we have tickle fights, make silly noises, play games like ring around the rosie or I spy and try to get the kids laughing and interacting. However, you better believe I will add in that photo of their serious face, or the outtake of the goofy ones to your gallery because those are the faces they soon stop making that one day you'll miss.

Not sure what to wear to your session?
I would love to help you decide your clothing choices for your family session. My best advice is to select an outfit mom loves for herself first! When mom feels like she looks amazing and is comfortable it is easier for everyone else's outfits to fall into place. If mom's outfit is a very subtle pattern or solid color then select an outfit for someone else in the family that has a pattern (florals for little girls, plaid for dads, etc.) and also includes the color of mom's outfit. Typically patterned clothing items have multiple colors in them so it makes it really easy to decide what other colors your family will be wearing. And don't forget to accessorize too...a statement necklace for mom, a sweater layer or suspenders on brother or dad, a scarf to add depth and texture and so on. Hats also make great accessories! I would also love to help when it comes to selecting clothing choices. If you feel stuck don't hesitate to send me a photo of what you have so far laid out on the bed or floor next to each other and I can make suggestions on how to pull it together.

A few things to keep in mind when looking for outfits are your location, make sure the clothes you select will pop and not let you blend in with the surroundings. Shooting at the beach? You might want to stay clear of too much khaki and cream colors in your clothing choices. A pair of shorts for dad and a pattern that includes cream is perfectly fine but blues, greens, corals and peach work very well at the beach. Shooting in a location that has a lot of green tones and trees? Stay away from too many greens. Yellows, reds, pinks, blues, creams and purples pop off greenery well. Also avoid neon colors as they tend to reflect onto your skin.
